About Us有限会社カネカ神田

Greetings from the Representative Director

Ichiro Kanda, the 1st generation, who pioneered "our roots as a fish merchant" shortly after World War II.
Shoichiro Kanda, the 2nd generation, the pioneer of "carrying fish on a train (carrying fish shop)" to Nagoya.
Yoshiaki Kanda, the 3rd generation, established the Company from a "small fish shop" as "Kaneka Kanda Co., Ltd."
Takahiro Kanda, the 4th generation, has been appointed to flexibly meet the "customer's needs" instead of going against the trend of this era in which individual needs are subdivided.
While inheriting the aspirations of our predecessors, we are striving to become a new type of fish merchant in line with the times without damaging our customers' bonds and trust that have continued for four generations since the War.
We are proud of our local seafood from Aichi Prefecture, and our motto is "local production for local consumption".
Takahiro Kanda, Representative Director

Greetings from the wife of the fish merchant

I married a fish merchant and learned about the deliciousness of fresh fish.
As a mother, I reaffirmed the importance of fish nutrition for children.
Meanwhile, these days we faced the problem of the "phenomenon of decreasing fish eaters".
As a fish merchant, we sought to "stop the phenomenon" and "contribute to the future," and developed the baby food fish set "Toto Baby."
Taking advantage of my position and experience as a woman, housewife, and mother, I would like to offer more fish for your dining table!
Eat safe and secure fish deliciously and be healthy!
With that as our motto, we are engaged in product development, operation, and food education activities.
I think proudly that my role as the wife of a fish merchant running a historic fish shop, which has continued for four generations after the War, is to run a "friendly fish shop" for "women" who are mainly responsible for home kitchens and family food.

Auction rights Holder

We hold auction rights (purchase rights) for two fishing ports, the Fisheries Cooperative Association of Higashihazu, Nishio City, Aichi Prefecture, and the Fisheries Cooperative Association of Gamagori, Gamagori City, Aichi Prefecture.
A fresh fish auction is an auction transaction in which freshly landed seafood (unfixed price) is traded at the price at which the purchase right holders want to buy, and the bidder with the highest price buys it.
It means deciding the price of fresh fish at the moment when the fresh fish first appears on the market.

Having the right to buy at an auction means that you can witness the moment the market price is decided, and if you win the auction, you can buy it at your desired price. As it is the timing when fresh fish first appears on the market, it is a purchase right holder like us who can purchase the fresh fish at the very first price (lowest price) without interposing an intermediary.
We can buy valuable, high quality fresh fish at the lowest price.

Auction rights (purchase rights) cannot be bought by paying money.
Each fishing port has an association, a history, and rules.
As we are a historic fish shop, we can continue to have the auction right (purchase right).
It is our greatest strength.

Certain connoisseurship

The most important thing in purchasing fresh fish is "connoisseurship."
It is a "technique" that instantly determines the freshness.
In addition, fresh fish are being traded one after another in the auction field for a limited time.
In most cases, the weight and amount are not specified.
You also need to instantly decide on the desired price.
The technique of judging the quality by looking at the freshness, weight, and quantity with our "eyes" has been handed down from father to son in the four generations since the war.
We make the best choices at the auction site to get the best fish for your order.

Our three aspirations

We want the locals to eat locally landed fish! (Local production for local consumption)

This is possible as we own the auction rights of the local fishing ports and carry fish to Nagoya.
Locals can eat fish at the best time.
We want you to eat delicious seafood from Aichi Prefecture and feel the splendor of Aichi Prefecture more! This will raise the interest of many people, and we believe that it will contribute to the development of the fishery industry and to the measures against the decline in fishermen.

We want to deliver fresh, safe, and secure fish! (Value of domestic natural fish)

All the fresh fish we purchase at auction are "natural fish" that are "just landed." Natural fish feed themselves and live freely in the sea.
They do not store surplus things but have exercised their power to live.
The body, texture, and origin are completely different from those raised for human consumption.
It is the blessing of nature itself.
"Food safety" is at stake in exchange for the abundant happiness of today's food-filled world.
The origin and deliciousness of natural fish is what we Japanese have eaten since ancient times.
A stable supply that can be eaten all year round, like imported and farmed fish, is difficult with natural fish, but that's why there are "seasons".
Seasonal fish have the nutritional value we need most at that time.
That's why you feel it is "delicious".
We consider "domestic natural fish" first and take pride in our mission to deliver it along with its value.

The fish merchant wants to deliver delicious fish directly to your dining table and stop the phenomenon of decreasing fish eaters! (Contribution to a bright future)

In the old days, people bought fish at a fish shop, meat at a butcher's shop, and vegetables at a greengrocer. People used to buy at "specialty stores" as a matter of course. Nowadays, it is a convenient time with large supermarkets where everything is in one store.
In exchange for that convenience, it is also true that specialty stores have been forced to close down.
Fish merchants know best about fish. A deep sense of community with customers, how to eat fish deliciously, and knowing who has been involved in offering it.

It was an era when housewives bought by looking at the seller's face, could easily consult about cooking methods, and were served by the seller...
We are sure that "fish dishes" were served up many times a week at that time.
The existence of specialty stores played an important role in helping families become interested in "food ingredients"! I think this was understood after facing the reality of the phenomenon of decreasing fish eaters.
The times are changing so rapidly that we couldn't even imagine the current situation when we were founded (after the War). I wonder if something like "the era of buying fish at a fish shop is over" will happen... The number of fish shops is decreasing so much that it is worrisome.
Until five years ago we were mainly engaged in wholesale business to vendors such as restaurants, tempura specialty shops, hotels, and inns. However, witnessing the recent reality of the phenomenon of decreasing fish eaters and the closure of fresh fish shops, we have begun an "Internet sales business" that connects a fish shop and customers' homes, in which a fish merchant delivers fish directly to customers' homes.
We used to have products only for vendors, but now we have more than 100 products for home use.
With our Internet sales, even if we cannot meet and serve customers in person, what kind of fish was made, who made it with what kind of feelings, how it should be cooked, etc... We try to convey those important feelings clearly.
In addition, we have acquired professional qualifications and set up a "food education course" to convey "the importance and enjoyment of eating" and "the deliciousness of fish".
A bright future cannot come true without a healthy body.
Our human body is "made of what we eat."
"Fish" is essential for a healthy diet.
We hope that our fish will contribute to a brighter future.
